Phase 2 - November & December

Written by Tina Sibley in March 2022

I confess! Life got very busy as I got stuck into my training for Kilimanjaro on top of everything else and I failed to write my blog on a weekly basis.

I will attempt to fill in the gaps on my training, but the bottom line is that I managed to keep things up despite things getting crazy for me.

November

November was literally CRAZY!!

  1. A dance cruise
  2. 2 Dance congresses
  3. Moving house!

The first week of November was occupied by my dance cruise around the Mediterranean.

Of course, as there were excursions, I did lots of walking which was great as I was still getting excercise while I was on holiday.

I was also dancing every night, so plenty of cardio work as well.

The downside was that the food was plentiful, freely available and absolutely delicious so despite all the walking and exercise, weight loss would not be happening!

It also got me into bad habits!

Once I got back from the cruise, I went straight into a weekend of special dance workshops!

Then life was overtaken by moving apartments. I was only moving three buildings away in the same urbanisation, but it was a lot of work!

A lot of time was taken up with the admin side of things - arranging contracts, paying deposits and all that stuff.

Then there was a 10 day period of moving all my stuff and cleaning my old place ready for inspection.

And then, of course, arranging my new home.

On the upside, there was a lot of physical work with lifting and carrying, but very little time for working out or hiking.

At the same time, towards the end of November, there were two weekend dance congresses - one in Barcelona and the other in Estepona!

By the end of November, I was practically on my knees! As I write this and look back, it's hardly surprising that I couldn't keep up with writing my blog!

December

December was a little quieter, but I was done in!

I kept up with my training with Lubo but somehow the trip to Kilimanjaro didn't seem real.

If I'm honest, because of travel restrictions and problems, I had difficulty in believing that my trip would actually go ahead - and I still needed to wait for confirmation from the company that it was on.

So my motivation wasn't as strong as it had been when I was training for the Inca Trail.

In addition - I got into serious bad habits around eating with all the Christmas food and chocolates in the shops!!

Then - on the 16th December, I got confirmation from G-Adventures that the trip was going ahead! It was time to start booking flights, getting my visa and start taking things more seriously!

That proved a challenge right before Christmas!
