Transformational Adventure
THE KILIMANJARO CHALLENGE
The Kilimanjaro Challenge
The Kilimanjaro Challenge
We can never make complete guarantees - especially on the mountain! However, this expedition is planned for dry season so we're not expecting problems. That said, mother nature is unpredictable and unforeseen conditions or a mountain fire may mean we have to deviate from the planned route or agenda. Safety is always our first priority.
Never! Age really is just a number - it's all in the mind. People have hiked Kilimanjaro even in their 80s. I myself was 61 on my first summit and 62 on my second. What's important is that you have a young mindset and approach.
That depends on how much time there is before booking and the trip itself! While Kilimanjaro is a hiking mountain rather than a technical climbing mountain, and it's written that it's within the reach of anyone with a 'reasonable' level of fitness, it IS physically challenging. You don't need to be a super-fit athlete - the pace is slow. Very, very slow. However, you do need to be able to hike pretty much all day for 8 days in a row - at altitude. If you have 6 months or so to get yourself fit, and get some hiking experience in, then you can do it! It's unlikely you would succeed if you didn't do any training beforehand though. I'm not an experienced hiker - I had never hiked until 3 years previously, when I began training for the Inca Trail. When you join this trip, you will get special zoom meetings with myself and other participants to help you prepare and keep you motivated to build your fitness.
More than anything offered anywhere else!
Most tour operators start to look after you when you arrive at the welcome meeting on arrival day. This trip supports you fully long before that. When I did my trips, although I received all the documentation I needed, I had so many more questions and had to resort to getting as much information as possible from watching endless YouTube videos.
This trip is different. This trip is designed to be totally transformational - and to make the correlation between the mighty Mt Kilimanjaro and the metaphorical mountains of your challenges in life and business.
As soon as you pay your deposit to reserve your place, you're part of the family! You will be invited to a one-to-one onboarding session with Tina Sibley and your journey will begin. You will also join monthly zoom meetings with your fellow participants to help you prepare - we will discuss your training regime, your travel arrangements, your equipment and packing list - and more. You will also be invited to join the virtual retreat, where there are weekly meetings to help you achieve your goals - your fitness goals for Kili plus your other life and business goals as well. In addition, there will be a Facebook group and a specific trip WhatsApp group so you can chat to your fellow adventurers.
We will always be able to accommodate Vegetarian, Gluten Sensitive, and Dairy-Free diets. If you have other requirements, please let us know and I can contact the local team and we will do our best to accommodate them.
No, airfare is not included. Participants come from all over the world, so it's not possible to cater for this. In addition, many travellers like to arrive beforehand or stay longer afterwards to see more of the country. Not including airfare allows for extra flexibility.
Absolutely! We welcome solo travellers but you will never be alone. Rather than being forced to pay a hefty single supplement, we will assign you to share a room and tent with another traveller. This all adds to the experience of connection and you will form bonds and make friends for life. If you want your own room and tent, we will do our best to accommodate this - however, as well as the additional hotel rooms before and after the mountain expedition, it requires an additional team of porters to carry the additional tent equipment, so single supplements are quite pricey! Let us know if you want to explore this option.
Yes - if there is sufficient time prior to the trip taking place. A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking and this gives you immediate access to all the pre-trip support, including a one-to-one onboarding session over zoom and membership of the virtual retreat. The full balance must be paid no later than 120 days before the adventure takes place. You can discuss instalment options during the onboarding session.
We want nothing more than for you to escape on one of our adventures. However, we understand emergencies do occur that may cause you to cancel your reservation. Our cancellation and refund policy is as follows:
The deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE - you will still have access to the online Mastermind (economy level)
Refunds will be given as outlined below based on how long before the trip cancellation happens.
Full refund (less non-refundable deposit): 121+ days prior to the adventure
50% (less non-refundable deposit): 61-120 days prior to the adventure
No refund: 60 days or less prior to the adventure
We can offer a substitution - although this would depend on park permits and there would be a fee to cover the changes and purchase of new permits, if available.
No exceptions will be granted to our Cancellation policy.
We reserve the right to cancel trips with inadequate participant attendance, in which case all money paid will be fully refunded.
We CANNOT be held responsible for any personal expenses, such as airline tickets due to changes in itineraries or tour cancellations. We recommend that you wait for confirmation that the trip is proceeding before purchasing air tickets.
We reserve the option to modify trip itineraries at the discretion of your tour director as necessary due to weather, conditions, illness, injury, group dynamics, safety, or other unforeseen incidents.
Travel Insurance is a requirement of this trip and we require a copy of your policy before we begin.
Yes you can! If you can't make the scheduled dates, or want to have a private tour with just you, or maybe with your parter or the whole team, this can be catered for. We recommend taking your trip between the dry seasons of December to the end of February or between June and the beginning of November. For just one person, this would be considerably more - the bigger the group, the more value per person! We can also put together a custom itinerary of activities before and after the climb. Get in touch if you would like to discuss this.
