I've Been AWOL!
Written by Tina Sibley in July 2019

I’ve been AWOL for most of the last year! Time to explain what I’ve been up to.
If you don’t follow me on my personal Facebook profile, you could be forgiven for thinking I’d been abducted by aliens or something!

But I found it necessary to take some serious time out during the last year, during which time I’ve realised some changes needed to be made.

The last time I was fully active in my business was while I was still travelling through Canada and Texas – which were totally amazing adventures.

But when I got back to the UK, I got word that my dear Aunt, that I was very close to had taken a turn for the worse and likely didn’t have long left. So instead of returning to Spain and continuing full pelt with my business, I needed to remain in the UK and take time out to spend as much time visiting her as possible. She sadly left us in the September.

Around the same time, I had a health scare and ended up being taken to hospital in Winchester, where they informed me that my blood pressure was dangerously high and I had some abnormalities going on with my heart. Months of tests followed and the short story is that, while those abnormalities are permanent, there is nothing more sinister going on – so I’m healthy enough as long as I look after myself.

I eventually returned to Spain in November and moved into the most gorgeous apartment overlooking the sea in December. Here, I was able to do some deep reflecting and realised that 2019 was going to need to be the year I focused on my health and fitness.

And my vision for my business also begin to look different.

My Health

By the time I got back to Spain, I was exhausted. Even though I had an incredible time travelling, it was very tiring and then coming back to the emotional strain of watching my Aunt deteriorate left me totally wiped out.

I had put on weight again and was SO unfit – but, just being ‘healthy’ wasn’t enough motivation and I decided I needed something to aim for. I also knew I wanted to travel, but not over several months while I worked. So I booked an ‘extended holiday’ the highlight of which would be hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

I figured this would force me to finally get in shape – and, so far it’s been working. I’m about to embark on my travels and am 38lbs lighter and a LOT fitter. Since January, as well as my beloved dancing, I’ve been hiking – a lot - and also hiked the Jebel Musa mountain in Morocco.

I've had to overcome a lot of internal and external battles in my preparation for this challenge - you can read all about it in my Machu Picchu blog

My Business

During my reflections, I had realised that I wanted to make a bigger impact and help people set up a business where they can have the freedom to live where they like and travel. So it made sense to start looking at the wider picture, rather than focus only on speaking and webinars.

I teamed up with Debbie Peck, who I met while I was in Vancouver and we set up a Facebook group called Freedom Navigators. The aim is to help people build businesses that they can run from anywhere and create an income that supports a Freedom lifestyle. We’ve also run a beta test for a coaching program and this has been the main focus for me this year – and will continue to be so. We’re running an exciting Freedom Summit in September (a free event with massive content value) so watch this space.

I also intend at some point to run some personal development events that feature physical challenges around hiking – since I myself have got SO much out of this the last few months.

My Travels

I’m about to leave for the UK to spend two weeks visiting family and friends – and attending a big dance festival in Plymouth, which should be a lot of fun.

Then on 1st August, I fly to Miami for a couple of days – always wanted to go since the days of Miami Vice and then after seeing Dexter! On 4th August, I fly to Quito in Ecuador where I will spend some time chilling and hiking at altitude in preparation for the Inca Trail.

On 11th August, I’m off to the Galapagos Islands for lots of snorkelling, some hiking and getting up close and personal with wildlife.

19th August, I fly to Lima in Peru and then it’s a rollercoaster of adventures. A couple of days in the Amazon Jungle, lots of trips to historical archaeological sites and then on 24th, I begin the Inca Trail arriving in Machu Picchu on the 27th.

Then it’s a day in Cusco (possibly Rainbow Mountain) before going to Puno, Lake Titicaca and finally crossing the border into Bolivia for a couple of days from where I will fly back home.

You can expect to see a gazillion photos if you follow me on social media!!

Going Forwards

Now that I’ve got my health and fitness – and my mojo – back, I’m going to be more active in my business again. Although this will still be on a modified basis so I can continue with my fitness – and continue having fun and living for NOW and not just working for the future.

So - look out for training content, updates and if you’re one of my e-mail subscribers, you will begin to see me appear in your inbox again – but not too much, I promise!

I will also begin to be more active on the business side of things on social media – but in a different way to how I’ve done this in the past.
